As some amount of time has passed since my last post, I have now completed this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, however there is one thing that has me a bit irked. THE STORY IS NOT OVER YET! Yes, I knew that this was the first book in the series, but I expected at least some sort of conclusion or resolution at the end! Not to try and give the story away, but this is the most hanging by a thread moment you have ever heard of, and the book just ends! Now I’m going to have to go out and get the other 2 books in the series (for fear of unresolution once again in book 2) before I can find out the ending! I must admit that this is a very good marketing tool. Imagine how many books couldsell if you broke one story into 3, 4, maybe even 5 separate books! You would make a fortune! Hmm… I wonder if they did this while thinking of money. O well, I guess I’ll just have to wait to continue the adventures of Tom Hunter and company.

Black
January 11, 2008Over the Christmas break I began to read Black by Ted Dekker. This is the first book in The Circle Series. The main character is Thomas Hunter, a man in a very big pickle. Tom is living in the year 2010, or is he? In this world he has a history, a family, and a memory, but whenever he falls asleep, he wakes up in another place, another world. Here he has no memory, no history, and is surrounded by strange creatures as well as humans. However as soon as he falls to sleep in this world he wakes back up in 2010 again.
Thomas soon learns that the strange world is actually the future, and he is on a new Earth. The old one ended after an airborne vaccine mutated into a deadly virus and killed nearly everyone on the Earth in the year 2010. Uh oh, that’s where Thomas is living in his dreams. Where does reality end and where does it begin? Can Thomas stop this threat to mankind or is it already to happen?
This book is not only a great plot but also a great brain workout. I can hardly wait to finish Black and read the rest of the series, titled Red and White.
