Blue Gold LAST ONE

January 12, 2008

I just finished reading the ending of Blue Gold.  As I said in the first blog it was very interestingThe book Blue Gold was the best book that I have ever read by Clive Cussler.  The end took a drastic turn.

After escaping the forest Francesca Cabral was very cheery and was perfecting her system to get pure water from salt water.  She was with Gamay who was helping her.  Once Fancesca finished the poor countries could get fresh water for very little cost.  Before they could finish the doorbell rang.  A fake news team entered the house.  Francesca and Gamay were kidnapped by being drugged.  Paul, Gamay’s husband came from his study and ended up getting a knife through his back.   He broke his nose from when he fell to the floor.

The next few chapters introduce a secret company named Gogstad who had wanted the Cabral desalting process for a long time.  When Kurt and Joe found out that Gamay and Francesca were missing they figured out a plan to find were they were being held.  Once they found Lake Tahoe in the States they left in a hurry.  Using a sub they came upon the underwater lab were the process took place.  They found Francesca working for Gogstad and went to find Gamay.

Meanwhile Gamay was let loose to two brother who took joy in murdering and raping women.  She slowly walked partially across the room when two motorcycle engines started up.  Being the room was dark they turned on their headlights.   They head spears across the handle bars.  They raced towards Gamay and turned away at the last second and came in from behind crisscrossing.  She evetually aquired one of the spears from when they through them at her.  She had defended herself from the spears using a shield off the side of a great Viking replica ship.  With the spear she through it at one of the men.  She missed but hit the spokes which sent the rider over the handle bars killing him as he hit the hard floor.  The brother on the other bike stopped starred and cam careening at Gamay with a hatchet that he used to cut the other spear in half with.  Gammay ran for the end of the ship where there was an entrance.  He rammed her with the motorcycle.  She fell to the floor.  He told Gamay that he was going to use the hatchet to cut her legs off first the her arms.  He raised the weapon ….. reached to the side of his head fast enough to realize an arrow was sticking there.  Joe came up and told Kurt that he was supposed to hit the”apple” on his head … not the actual head.   Gamay managed to get up as the leader of Gogstad came in.  Brynchild was a foot and a half taller than most other women and weighed almost two hundred pounds and none of it fat.  Joe began a boxing match that he was losing.  Kurt had been kicked in the chest where he could feel his ribs cracking.  While Kurt was down and Joe was fighting, Gamay had instinctively grabbed another shield and swung it over her head and brought it down on Brynchild’s head.  Joe just stood there stupidly.   Kurt got up and piled the wooden shields together and began a fire.  The Viking ship was on fire.

They all recovered from that incident and went down to the underwater lab to retrieve Francesca.  As they are about to depart Brynchild and lots of guards came down the elevator.  They had to surrender.  Luckily Francesca had “screwed” around withthe system and the heat from the process was growing and there was no way to stop it.  She made a bargain with Brynchild to let Kurt, Joe and Gamay go and she would fix it.  Brynchild let them go.  Francesca took Kurt’s gun and when the elevator reached the top she shot out the electrical cords that made it work.  She threw the gun aside and told Brynchild the truth that it was unfixable and that in less than five minutes it would explode.  She was already mad about her ship being burned and her process going down the tubes she decided to take it out on Francesca.  She grabbed the gun on the floor and fired three shots.  Two missed and one hit Francesca right in the chest.  She fell backwards and came to a sitting position against the wall as she died.  This was the drastic turn because she had survived a kidnapping, a plane crash, ten years with indian savages, escape and get kinapped again only to get shot.  Thats what I call If she didn’t have bad luck she’d have no luck at all.  Kurt, Joe and Gamay stole a boat and left just in time to see the pier (were they got the boat from) explode into a molten red eruption.  All was saved and the Cabral system was saved because Francesca before Kurt left, she geve him the process so that it could still help the world.  The book ended in Africa with the first system installed.  Everyone was happy.  Except Brynchild of course who lost everything including her life.

Blue Gold Con’t

January 6, 2008

After I started reading Blue Gold I felt like I was an actual character in the book.  Mr. Cussler really knows how and when to decribe people or objects so that you feel included in the book.  I am almost done my book titled Blue Gold.  It has been very embracing, just like all the other Clive Cussler books I have read.  Just as you think one character is about to die, something or someone swoops in to save the day.  An example from the book would be when Austin had pilot of a helicopter fly in to save Paul and Gamay from the savage indians that were after them.  Once the indians saw the helicopter they ran in fright giving Paul and Gamay the chance to be saved.      While this mission was in effect Joe Zavala was being told by a newpaper reported named Cohen that a company titled Gogstad was interferring with freshwaster companies by buying them out.  There “goal” as Cohen put it was to control all the freshwaster in the world.  One plan was for when areas like San Francisco were out of water a system of dams, dikes and water reservoirs from Alaska would be built and a tenth of British Columbia would be flooded.  It is a good thing this story isn’t true because that would suck.

All of Clive Cussler’s books are mostly filled with sarcastic remarks from the good guys to the bad guys which sometimes turns into a shooting match or a vast adventure.  As I said in the beginning it seems as if you are in the book or you are watching a movie.  Another description would be like a ride at Disney Land - no reference to you Colin -.

I think anyone who has a love for adventure would like this book.

Blue Gold

January 4, 2008

I am now about in the middle of my book titled Blue Gold.  It has been very interesting, just like all the other Clive Cussler books I have read.  The main characters are Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala.  They both work for NUMA (National Underwater Marine Agency).

So far in the book Kurt and Joe have been to Mexico to investigate a tortilla factory.  While there it explodes.  They have also brought down a mass murderer and drug dealer when his armourred car exploded.  They then visited an attorny named Hanley.  They are at the attorny’s office to “invest” in tortilla factories.  In other words they are tring to figure out what made it explode.   After they leave a helicopter sent a missile into the building killing the attorny.  What can I say these crooks have no sence of humour.  Kurt and Joe go back to save the “female” secretary, of course.

Meanwhile two other characters, Paul and Gamay, husband and wife, who also work for NUMA were in a rain forest to study a river.  When they finished a dead indian boy floated down the river in a well crafted canoe painted blue and white.  They were asked to bring a random object to another tribe in the area.  When they arrived Paul and Gamay were captured.  They very narrowly escaped only to find that they were again captured by the white godess and her indians painted white and blue just like the dead indian boy was.  Paul and Gamay figure out that they are all painted like this because of the plane crash that brought the White Godess to these indians.  The plane was a blue and white executive jet.

This is as far as I have read in Blue Gold.  I hope everyone has been reading good books and had a Mery Christmas and a Happy New Year.
