Right now, I am reading a book called “Skybreaker” by Kenneth Oppel. It is actually the sequel to one of my favourite books, “Airborn,” and is also by the author of many other great books such as the “Silverwing” series, and “Dead Water.” So far, I have read the first chapter, and have found this book just as good as the previous book, although I can already tell that the book’s plot would be a bit confusing if you hadn’t already read the first book, because there are many references to the other book, and the characters are not introduced as thoroughly as they would have been in a single book, but since there was another book, that doesn’t matter so much.
Anyways, in the first chapter the characters are already in a crisis, no boring introductions like some books. The main character, Matt Cruse, works on airships, which are huge blimp-like vehicles filled with a lighter-than-air gas which is called “Hydrium.” In the first chapter, Matt’s ship is flying through a storm, and they find a long lost ship that had been thought to have crashed long ago, a very famous airship, which was called the Hyperion. The famous ship is rumoured to have great treasures on it, although no one knows what the treasure was, or is. So, the Captain, upon seeing the ship, decides to try to tow the Hyperion back to civilization, and so to become a hero, but as they go higher up to try to get to it, the thin air forces them to leave the ghost ship.
