The Wheel of Time: The Beginning Part 1

December 7, 2007

This story begins in the Borderlands, along the Aiel Waste. Lan, the King of a Dead Kingdom (Malkier) that was swallowed by the Blight, is assembling some troops from all over the Borderlands. He fights with a sword made by the Aes Sedai, during the Breaking of the World. He is trying to hide his troops from the Aiel who are the most fierce warriors in the whole world, and who, when faced against 300 normal soldiers to one, would kill a fair majority of them before being overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of men.

This book is very hard to understand unless you have a brief understanding of the arrangement of countries and the different races and species of people living in this world.

So, Aes Sedai are magical people who can tap into the “True Source” to do magic. Since the Breaking of the World only women have been allowed to use this power, without having Aes Sedai cut them off from it. Men who can channel have been worshiped or killed, do to the legend that the Dragon Reborn (The most powerful man who can channel) will be the only one that will stop the Dark One (the ultimate Evil) from sending the world into an eternal darkness. The closest that the Dark One can touch the world right now, is in the Blight where his connection is the strongest. Strange creatures called Mydraal, and Trollocs, come from the Blight to terrorize the people of the world. The Borderland is along the Blight and is the stronghold that keeps the world from being swallowed by darkness. To the west is the Aeil Waste where the savage Aeil live (in the desert), and where Lan is at the moment.

That is all that I will say  for now, but I will update on this book in a little bit.
